COO, Norair Muradian has been employed with DSMIT parent company of DS Scientific throughout its 16 year history as a lead engineer and scientist specializing in Solid State Physics, Optics and Wafer design.
Norair received both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Physics from California State University, Los Angeles 1991. He then entered the UCLA school of Engineering and received a Master’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with minors in quantum electronics and photonics.
Norair designed a number of MEM’s based sensors from photonic based to transducer based, employed by the micro-devices laboratory (MDL) at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena California. Developing, processing, and characterizing electron tunneling accelerometers for acoustic imaging applications. As a process engineer at UCLA (CMOS material) and later at TRW (III-V material), he perfected the design of several high speed and wire-less devices and as an engineering graduate student at UCLA he became an expert in the CMOS processing lab (Lab 150).
Employed at TRW as a student engineer, Norair also developed TRW’s fiber optic sensors lab and performed research in MEM’s based antennas and fiber optic high Q resonators. At TRW in the commercial semiconductor fabrication facility he then developed the automated process capability for their photo-lithography and developer semiconductor processing lines.
Norais was later recruited by a start up engineering firm Cognet to research and developed high speed fiber optic CMOS based circuits such as TIA’s, limiting amplifiers, and laser drivers. There he also worked as a validation engineering characterizing the circuits, designing high speed PCB’s, and developing RF validation test stations. As the company grew, Norair was responsible for design tape outs and performing PCM characterization. As the company continued to grow, several years later, Cognet was purchase by Intel CMOS division which then integrated its products with their newly acquired expertise in electronic optic systems. There, Norair designed a number of products in the wireless 802.11 product lines and in the Centrino laptop computers.
As a result of Norair’s educational background and work experiences he was promoted to product engineer at Semtech, a mobile power management company. There he was successful in improving the yield on several critical products allowing the company to produce a profit for the organization. Following, he was then offered employment as a member of a technical staff for Rockwell Scientific and Imaging Company. There, he designed remote infrared and visible imaging equipment which allowed him to cross utilize his expertise in solid state physics and optical engineering where he was then able to successful hybridize ASICs with large format arrays which later entered the marketplace.
Finally, with Norair’s wide range of experiences and knowledge in semiconductor processing, packaging, and systems design, he was able to develop and debug many complicated mission critical microelectronics and semiconductor assemblies for the Semtech imaging group. With Mr. Muradian’s expertise at hand, in the near future DS Scientific expects to evolve itself as a world leader in OEM/EMS when it comes to remote IR Camera sensing and imaging in both the Aerospace and Defense industry as well as medical diagnostic industry in internal body imaging.
